New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) A ministerial panel has allotted more than 60 percent of additional allocation from Reliance Industries Ltd’s D6 block in Krishna Godavari basin to the power sector.
While the empowered group of ministers, chaired by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, met on Oct 27, the minutes of the meeting were finalised only last week.
In a press release, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas Monday said power plants, including those to be commissioned in 2009-10, will be allocated over 12 million units, out of the total additional allocation of about 20 million units.
Refineries will be given five million units more, with another two million units to petrochemical plants as feedstock.
The decision on additional allocation was to allow Reliance to ramp up production to 60 million units by December. The current production rate is around 40 million units.
