New York, Apr 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) 217,000 Graco drop-side cribs are going to be recalled because of the risks of entrapment and suffocation concerns. LaJobi is manufacturing the cribs.
The company officials said that the drop sidepiece of the crib can break or even fail to function properly, which might result in the case, in which the drop side can detach itself from the crib. And this can be a grave risk for the toddlers, as they would create a big gap between the drop side and the mattress, and the little toddlers can get caught in that gap. And if they are caught in that gap, and are without supervision also, then there is a huge risk of suffocation as well as strangulation also. Besides this, they can also fall down from the crib, in that gap.
The CPSC and the LaJobi have received a lot of complaints, about the non-performing drop side hardware. There have also been two cases, in which the children have become stuck in the gap. However since the children were being supervised, so their parents rescued them. Besides this, there have been six incidents in which the hapless children fell from the gap, and one of the children also suffered from a mild concussion.
