cribNov.24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to sources, the Canada based company of Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc., is the manufacturer of the cribs that caused the death of many infants. Cribs, which were so long considered to be a safe place for resting a baby, suffocated fifteen infants and claimed the life of four. Noticing the problem related to the cribs and to ensure the safety of all infants, the Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States decided to recall all the cribs from the market. Addressing all parents as well as caregivers, they said, people should not use these cribs and “find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby.”

The recall of 2.1 million cribs from the market has surprised everyone and sources stated that this is the largest crib recall issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Sources stated that the recall that has been issued by the commission also comprises of the 968,000 cribs that the company has sold in the markets of Canada. It is speculated that the recall of more than two million cribs will affect the manufacturers significantly and media representatives tried to reach the company officials for their comment. However, none of the officials could be reached after the commission declared the cribs recall.

Sources stated that the plastic hardware of Stork Craft cribs, if deformed or broken can create a space between the mattress and the crib walls. A baby can get trapped in this gap and die after getting suffocated in this small space. This was a serious threat to the infants, so the commission recalled the cribs.
