Bangalore, Feb 15 (IANS) Eleven infrastructure firms, including L&T and Gammon India, have evinced interest in the Rs.1,300-crore project to build an inter-model transit centre in this tech hub, a top official said Tuesday.”The mega project at Subhashnagar in the city centre will be jointly developed by the state-run transport corporations in public-private partnership (PPP) mode to provide seamless passenger amenities for bus and metro rail commuters,” Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) managing director Gaurav Gupta told reporters here.

Among other firms short-listed for the nodal transit facility, to be spread over 40 acres, are Hindustan Construction Company, Nagarjuna Construction Company, GMC Projects, Shriram Properties, Essar Projects and IVRCL.

“The request for proposal (RFP) for the project on design, build, finance, operation and transfer basis will be issued in a week, as the mega facility will be developed on a commercially viable basis with private participation,” Gupta said.

The state government’s participation will be in the form of prime land while the selected bidder will invest funds in building the project, which include integrated terminal facilities for city buses, inter/intra-state buses and the upcoming Namma Metro Rail.

“The inter-model centre will also have a 45-storey commercial tower with parking area for about 3,000 cars and bus bays for KSRTC and the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses and an underground connectivity between metro rail station and the city railway station,” Gupta noted.

The project is expected to be completed in five years from zero date when the construction is taken up by this year-end.

Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Ltd has is the project advisor.
