Ramalinga RajuHyderabad, Jan 27 (IANS) Disgraced former chairman of Satyam Computer Services B. Ramalinga Raju’s lawyers Tuesday alleged in a court here that the police were keeping at least 10 employees of Satyam and other firms of Raju in “illegal custody”.S. Bharat Kumar told the court that Gopalakrishna Raju was in illegal custody of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for many days and the CID showed his arrest only after his family members approached the state Human Rights Commission.

Gopalakrishna Raju, former general manager of SRSR Advisory Services floated by Ramalinga Raju to manage the family’s stake in Satyam, was arrested by the CID last week.

Kumar alleged that Gopalakrishna Raju was implicated in a false case of destroying evidence. “The CID has seized five truckloads of documents from Satyam offices and other premises. So where is the question of concealing or destroying the evidence?” he asked.

“It’s fact that employees of Satyam and different companies are being called by the CID office daily. They are being detained throughout the day and it has become a regular affair,” Gopalakrishna Raju’s counsel Narendra Reddy told reporters outside the court complex.

Earlier, Reddy took exception to the way the CID was seeking custody of Gopalakrishna Raju and told the court that neither the accused nor his counsel was served notice in this regard though he was arrested on Jan 23 and produced before the magistrate at his residence.
