Guangzhou, Nov 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) President Barack Obama’s half brother Mark Ndesandjo has penned a new novel called “Nairobi to Shenzhen“. It is about domestic violence and is based on his father. It is said to be a semi-autobiographical story of an abusive parent, loosely based on his own father.
Mark Ndesandjo told The Associated Press that he wrote “Nairobi to Shenzhen” with the aim of raising awareness about domestic violence.
“My father beat my mother and my father beat me, and you don’t do that,” said Ndesandjo, whose mother, Ruth Nidesand, was Barack Obama Sr.’s third wife. “It’s something which I think affected me for a long time, and it’s something that I’ve just recently come to terms with.”
“My mother used to say of my father, he’s a brilliant man but a social failure,” Ndesandjo told reporters at a press conference in Guangzhou, near his adopted city of Shenzhen.
“I remember times in my house when I would hear screams and I would hear my mother’s pain.” “My skin had turned hard emotionally for so many years because of what I’d seen my mother go through,” said Ndesandjo, who is slim and bears a striking resemblance to the US President Barack Obama.
