batmanDallas, Mar 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems that the craze for comic book heroes has not waned with the advancement of technology and exposure to media. That explains why a Batman comic book that was first printed way back in 1939 got sold for over $1 million at an auction that took place on Thursday. It broke a previous record set by a Superman comic book. The news was confirmed by an auction house based in Dallas. The buyer, however, chose to remain anonymous for unknown reasons. The Heritage Auction officials admitted that the price fetched by the Batman comic book surpassed their expectation by a large margin. The price difference with the previously sold Superman Comic book is not much, but the Batman comic book has set a new record nevertheless.

The Batman comic sold for more than $1 million was bought by the auction house way back in 1960s and it had cost them barely $100 at that time. Though a number of movies have been made on the adventures of both the comic book superheroes over the years, the popularity of the comic books remains intact. The Heritage Auctions president Greg Rohan said in his statement that the attendees applauded the sale of the Batman comic book by clapping loudly. The comic was based on the first adventure of the super hero. Though the book was published several decades back, it is still in good condition.

The incident can give rise to the debate over who is the most popular superhero again. The fans of both superman and Batman are huge in number though it cannot be denied that the batman comic has fetched a higher price.
