St. John’s College of the University of Cambridge has announced the `Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarships'. The Scholarship programme has been set up exclusively for Indian students to study M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees in areas such as science, technology and social sciences. These awards will enable academically outstanding Indian students to go to St. John's College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences. Applications in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering and Energy Studies (both policy areas and technical areas, especially with practical applicability for India) will be of particular interest.
Candidates for these scholarships are selected through a process of short listing from the applications received by the British Council, followed by personal interviews, which will be held in New Delhi . The deadline for submission is 31 January 2008. For more details please visit http://www.britishcouncil.org
On this Occasion, Dr. Manmohan Singh said "This is a rather special and indeed a sentimental moment for me. I am deeply touched by the initiative that has been taken by the Master and Fellow of St. John’s College, Cambridge to institute these scholarships in my name. To be honoured in this manner by such a great institution is more than what I can ask for and certainly more than what I had ever dreamt of. I hope these scholarships will reinforce the enduring bond between India and Cambridge."
wow, another trick of britishers to attract talented Indians to do the real hi-tech work and take all the credit in the name of the country for new discoveries and inventions.
