August 05, 2007 By News Desk The Thailand Hindi Parishad (THP) , in association with the Thai Bharat Cultural Lodge and the Embassy of India organized a program on Saturday, July 28, to commemorate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha.
The culturally and literary inclined individuals present in the ballroom of Hotel Rembrandt witnessed a memorable program which started with Pandit Lalit Mohanjee conducting the recitation of mantras and lighting of the lamp and concluded with the rendition of enthralling Sare Jahan se achcha by Jagjeet singhji and colleagues.
The enthusiasm and talent of the participants and performers was overwhelming and the patriotic ambience soon encompassed the audience as they heard poetry, songs, bhajans and passionate speeches.
On this occasion, a Hindi novel "Sangharsh" by renowned Hindi author Mr. Amarendra Narayan -which describes Gandhijee’s Champaran struggle -was released by She complimented the author for the useful contribution.

The program started with singing of two favorite bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi. Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram was sung by Shri Jagjeet Singhjee and colleagues and Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye by Mrs. Rekha Mehra. Shri Naresh Khorana, Secretary Thai Bharat Cultural Lodge (TBCL) welcomed Her Excellency Ms Reddy and thanked her for her support to the function. He also welcomed all the guests present in the function. Shri Sushil Dhanuka welcomed all executives and staff members of the Embassy of India. He thanked Her Excellency Ms Latha Reddy for her guidance for making the program successful. Shri Dhanuka welcomed all invitees and informed that Thai Hindi Parishad works as a sub committee of the Thai Bharat Cultral Lodge. The joint organization of the program is a good example of the cooperation among the Embassy of India and other organizations and committees. Three renowned speakers Dr. Preedee Kasemsup, Dr.Chirapat Prapannvidya and Mr. Amarendra Narayan spoke about Gandhijee’s satyagraha and his experiences in South Africa and in India.
A brief Power Point presentation on Gandhiji was made by the computer prodigy Ajay Puri . The presentation highlighted the main events in Gandhij’s life. Mrs. Manjuli Mukherjee, Mrs. Shweta Narayan and baby Shubha Narayan sang the song Ekla Chalo Re by Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore. A leaflet containing the original song in Bengali and its translation in English and Hindi was also circulated. The English Translation was made by Prof. Neeru Chakrvertty and the Hindi by Amarendra Narayan. Some beautiful poetry was recited by Prof Srisurang Poolthupya, Shrimati Mamta Vyas and Shrimati Shikha Rastogi. Shrimati Mamata Vyas was also the Master of Ceremony and kept the audience engaged with her sincere and flawless approach. Her Excellency Ms. Latha Reddy spoke about Gandhiji’s Satyagraha in South Africa. She gave the historical background of the Satyagraha and also described her own experiences about the places and events associated with Gandhiji there. She mentioned the significance of the centenary of the Satyagraha. She congratulated the Thai Hindi Parishad for organizing the program in an excellent manner. She commended the work done by Mr. A.Narayan in writing Sangharsh. She also praised the efforts made by Sri Ajay Puri and wished him a bright future. Shri KL Mata jee thanked the Embassy of India and the Thailand Hindi Parishad for organizing the function in such a nice manner. He also thanked the invites for their presence in a large number. Shri LL Jain thanked the Ambassador and the executives and staff members of the Embassy of India for their support. He made special mention of Sri Abhijit Chakravertty and Sri S.P. Sapra from the Embassy of India for their strong support for the program. He thanked Shri OP Modi, Shri Sushil Dhanuka and Shrimati Mamta Vyas for their dedicated work in making the program successful.
