Stand up & Speak Out: Make Poverty Histroy

Stand Up and Speak Out is a worldwide event to be held on October 16th and 17th (Oct 17th in Bangkok) involving millions of people to take action against poverty and the Millennium Development goals set up by the government, locally and globally. Thaindian.com is supporting the event. Please pre-register with the Art of Living organizing committe Vaishali (0859721544) or Neelam (0870155234) for Bangkok event.

The United Nations Millennium Campaign and the Global Call to Action Against Poverty are working with a large number of national and local partners from schools and universities to local community groups, NGOs, trade unions, corporations etc. This is a unique opportunity to speak out with one voice on one issue on one day to get the message across with the rest of the world.

With just one week left, now is the time to promote STAND UP and SPEAK OUT everywhere!  Let's publicize the day so that everyone in the world -- political leaders and citizens -- are aware of our attempt to set a new Guinness World Record and break the record of broken promises.

On October 16 + 17, millions will demand an end to poverty and inequality and the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals. With your help, many voices will come together as one and Speak Out so loudly that we cannot be ignored.  It is up to you to spread the word and let all your friends, family and neighbors know that we are the first generation that can end poverty and we will not miss this historic opportunity.

Last year 23.5 million people joined in to set a new Guiness World record. This year, we request you all to join in to break last year's records. Every person counts! The event will be covered by the media to make sure your voice is heard  wide and far. We specially request NGOs and the youths of schools and colleges to participate, to demand the governments to keep their promises to end poverty and meet millennium developmental goals that they have promised.

Please pre-register with the organizing committe Vaishali (0859721544) or Neelam (0870155234), both of who are part of a non-profit, humanitarian NGO called The Art of Living Foundation, who are supporting the cause. We would be most happy to have other noteworthy organizations to help support the event.
