Somdev, Prakash crash out, Bopanna advances in Bangkok |

March 17, 2009 by IANS (From Bangkok) India's Somdev Devvarman and Prakash Amritraj crashed out of the first round of $50,000 ATP challenger while Rohan Bopanna advanced to the second round here Tuesday.
Somdev, seeded eighth, blew the first set advantage to lose 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 to Austrian Martin Slanar while Prakash lost 3-6, 2-6 to Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Meanwhile Bopanna, who entered the main draw as a qualifier, overcame a late challenge from American Rajeev Ram to win 6-3, 7-6(7).
Bopanna will next play another qualifier Noam Okun of Israel who upset sixth-seeded Russians Michail Elgin 7-6 (7), 6-4.
In the doubles, second-seeded pair Prakash and Ram beat Thai wildcard pair of Siributwong and Peerakit Siributwong 6-4, 6-1 to enter the quarter-final.
