Hasmukhbhai Mehta, the head of Reliable group of Industries, lives in a palatial house in Ghatkopar, with wife Sonal, son Ajit and daughter in law Preeti. He finds his son to be a wastrel and irresponsible, Preeti too nice and Sonal obsessed with cooking and feeding, driving him crazy.

And one night, after a heavy squabble with the family, Hasmukhbhai passes away. But his ghost lingers on to control his family from the other world!

Before his demise, he has drawn out a will by which his family will lead a frugal life until Ajit turns forty five…..As the Mehta family reconcile to their fate, in walks Kiran Jhaveri, the will’s trustee and Hasmukhbhai’s mistress, who has to stay and manage the family and the business.
Kiran’s presence disturbs the family, much to Hasmukh’s delight, who had planned to teach his family a lesson and hopes they will learn how inadequate they were as his wife, son and daughter in law.

But Sonal and Kiran bond together and share their opinions on his conniving and devious nature. In his moment of recognition, he realizes his own shortfall and living in the shadow of his father.
As he decides to leave them and find his place in heaven, Preeti’s baby kicks in her womb. Is Hasmukh going to get a second chance at being with his family as his yet to be born grandson?

Mahesh DattaniMeet Mahesh Dattani: India's first playwright in English to be awarded the Sahitya Akademi award, this Bangalore-lover made his mark in filmdom with Mango Souffle and the Oscar-nominated Morning Raga.
Rated as one of India's best and most serious contemporary playwrights in English' by the International Herald Tribune, Dattani made his debut in Mumbai theatre with Mad About Money, which received both critical and popular acclaim. Dattani is also the recipient of the prestigious Central Sahitya Akademi award in 1998.

Mad About Money is a light comic drama about human relationships in this life and the after life, and has already had an uninterrupted run. The story revolves around the Mehta family and how its senior most person - Hasmukhbhai - tries to control the entire family even from his grave...thus, bringing in some hilarious situations and outcomes.
