Indian Professionals needed for Research Project on INDIA RISING Print E-mail

Dr. Faizal Yahya is a Faculty member with the South Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore. They are undertaking a Research Project to examine Indian Transnationals against the backdrop of "India Rising".

Their project aims to examine several issues that has made India an emerging Asian economic giant and how this relates to some ASEAN member countries such as Thailand. These issues include among others;

1) Human capital flows
2) Indian companies expansion into the Southeast Asian region
3) The flow of Indian investment into the Southeast Asian region
4) Networking among Indian Transnationals in Southeast Asia
5) The flow of information from India to Southeast Asia

Dr. Faizal Yahya is an Assistant Professor in the South Asian Studies Programme, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore. He was conferred his Ph.D from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2000. He was an Australian Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholar (OPRS) from 1994 to 1998.

He has previously worked in the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Singapore Ministry of the Environment (International Policy Department). He joined the National University of Singapore in June 2001.

His Current research focuses on economic linkages between South Asia and East Asia (including Southeast Asia) at the regional and bilateral levels. This also includes various economic sectors such as information technology (IT), telecommunications, ports development, construction and tourism. Also working on a University funded project to examine the impact of the flows of skilled and professional human capital from India on Southeast Asia.

Indian origin Professionals who would be interested in discussing related issues with him are cordially invited to meet him. Dr. Faizal Yahya would like to interview about the areas mentioned above as well as your experiences as an Indian expatriate residing in Thailand. This is to ensure that Indians in Thailand should not be left out of the research project.
