August 14, 2008 by Amrit Rashmisrisethi On Friday, August 15, 2008, on the occasion of India's Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony will be held at 0900hrs. at the premises of the Embassy located at 46, Soi 23 (Prasarnmitr), Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok – 10110, followed by a short cultural programme and refreshments. The assembly time for the event is 0830hrs. All Indian nationals, along with members of their families, are cordially invited to attend the programme.
In 1945 ,the new Labour Government in Britain decided that India is indefensible and started to prepare for Indian independence, which was eventually granted on 15th August 1947.
This day, 15 August is India's biggest celebration , and this day also reminds because India gained the liberty from the British in 1947. Gaining the independence , after a long struggle and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
In New Delhi, The Prime Minister gives a speech in the Red Fort , included with the flag hoisting ceremony and cultural shows but in all the other cities Flag Hoisting Ceremony is done by the politicians belonged to that constituency.
On The television , the telecast on topic of Independence based and also the sacrifice of freedom fighters who had given up themselves for the country and remain with us till today.
In schools, there is no academic work done, as the students and the teachers plays similar role together , in order to be a part and pay a tribute to the nation.
