Independence Day celebrated in Bangkok Print E-mail

Flag hoisting at Indian Embassy on 15th Aug 2007 On the occasion of 60th Anniversary of India’s Independence, a function was organized at the Chancery Premises on 15th August, 2007.  After unfurling of the flag, the Ambassador H.E. Latha Reddy read out the President’s Message.   To celebrate this special occasion in a befitting manner a cultural programme was also organized which included singing of patriotic songs by students of the Modern International School of Bangkok and members of the Indian Women’s Club , Bangkok .  The function was well attended by members of the Indian community in Thailand. Indian Independence Day Celebrations at RembrandtIn the evening, a grand reception was organized by the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce in association with the Embassy to celebrate both the 60th Anniversary of our Independence Day as well as the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between India and Thailand.  H. E. Mr. Nitya Piboolsongram, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Royal Government of Thailand graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  A large number of Thai dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, prominent businessmen, media-persons amongst others attended the reception.
