Chaithana Sakum of Thailand beats Geet Sethi; Thailand gets its first gold |

November 03, 2007 by News Desk At the second Asian Indoor Games in Macau, Chaithana Sakum of Thailand defeated Geet Sethi to grab the gold in the individual billiards competition. Sethi lost 1-3 to Praput Chaithana Sakum. With Indians seeded one and two, an all-India final was expected but World Champion Pankaj Advani lost 2-3 to the Thai in the quarterfinals. Sethi had to be satisfied with the silver. Last month, Geet Sethi’s World record of billiards break was broken after 15 years by Singapore’s Peter Gilchrist at the New Zealand Open. Sethi’s break of 1276, which had come at the World professional championship in 1992, was surpassed by Gilchrist when he notched up 1346 against Ross Elixy of New Zealand.
