An hour of music organized by The Art of Living Foundation Print E-mail

September 20, 2007

By Amrit Pal

On the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi last week, The Art of Living foundation organized "An hour of music" in Country Tower, Bangna featuring Jeremy Occhipinti. Jeremy is a musician from America, with his roots in Gospel, Rock & Roll and Indian Chant/Folk Music. He is a first grade teacher at an international school in Bangkok and a volunteer teacher with the Art of Living Foundation.

Jeremy enthralled the audience with his music and chantings of his songs which included Hari Hari Om and Govinda Gopala. In a relatively shorter session also, Jeremey could create a big impact.

Jeremy's latest musical offering, "Sound in Silence" was released in India in June, 2005 (saregama). It's a collection of classical Indian chant/folk songs mixed with rock and roll melodies.Various trips to India, countless Art of Living Satsangs and a dynamic, powerful and graceful singer named Divya Prabha all gave rise to his current influence of Bhajans. For anyone who has attended one of his concerts, these songs would hold a lot of meaning.

He says " When we sing, our minds get united.  While singing, the intellect is not working.  Singing happens on the level of the heart; it creates a sense of unity in the whole group.  There is so much unity that it begins to radiate to the environment."
