Small earth dam collapses, aggravating flooding in Lamphun

LAMPHUN: -- A small earth dam collapsed Thursday following heavy rains, aggravating flooding in a district of this northern province.

The collapse of Mae San Dam in Tambon Sribuaban of Mae Tha district caused the flooding in the district to be the most severe in three districts of the province, which were hit by floods.

The two other districts were Muang and Ban Thi districts.

The three districts were hit by floods following heavy rains throughout Wednesday night.

In Mae Tha, most areas of Tambon Sri Buaban, Tambon Pasak and Tambon Wiangyong were under water. Many schools in the district were closed.
