Maharashtra Mandal has been in operation since 1989. It is a small but very closely knit association and has been working very well within the Maharashtrian community in Bangkok. They have about 100 families as their members. Presently, they operate from the residence of the President of the Mandal.
The current President is Mr Anil Deshmukh and his residence is 11A, Liberty Park, Soi 23, Sukhumvit Road. He can be contacted at 02-2616916. The Mandal has 4 fixed programs every year. - A day picnic in January-February.
- Maharashtra Day celebrations on the first Saturday of the month of May.
- Ganesh Puja on the Saturday after Ganesh Chaturthi (in the Hindu month of Bhadhar).
- Diwali - last 10 years they have been inviting a well known stage artist from Mumbai to perform at their Diwali program .
Apart from these four programs, they occasionally have get togethers when some Marathi artist visits Bangkok. The mandal gets in touch with him and tries to arrange some program for the Maharshtraian community in Bangkok. Content navigation Previous: Geeta Ashram Thailand
