Regarding the Fake ISKCON temple! - 2007/03/26 18:16Dear all,
I recently got a letter from one of the influential GBC ( Governing Body Council)member of ISKCON , His grace Kabichandra Maharaj, that the so called Namhat temple at suriwong street, which claims to be a ISKCON temple , is infact not anyhow related with ISKCON. I really dont know on what basis , the president or owner claims it to be an IKCON temple. I got a letter from Maharaj to distribute among the indian community regarding this. The letter is on ISKCON official pad and signed by his holyness.i am attaching the file here for everyone's convinience. Please distribute this messege as it is very important to know where we are going and putting our hard earned money in!

Most are not aware of this Damodar Das who is running this temple USING ISKCON name and cheating everyone.He has tailor shops and other businesses made from donations not to mention a guest house in Siliguri.
This temple is in Soi Putta Osoth off Suriwong Rd and has nothing to do with Iskcon at all. All money collected by him goes to his business.
Damodar is nothing but a cheap charlie dressed posing as saint taking advantage of us Indians and others.

You are very much right about the information you have mentioned about damodar. There are lot more like this which can be shared. Some of those are really ugly and prolly not decent enough to discuss in the forum.
People like him are a big threat on thousand years old Hinduism or Vaishnavism or Indian culture as a whole. I would request everyone to be careful and get more information before donating money or even visiting the temple.
at the same time, i will request this webgroup not to advertise any of his activities which will mention his temple as a part of ISKCON.

Thanks for your reply.
As per your suggestion, i have talked with maharaj about it.We have already initiated the process. It will not be a problem to post an official notice similar to what i have already attached with my previous email or even a press release in a website that belongs to ISKCON. Though the devotes in bangkok firmly belive that, this letter signed by Kabichandra Maharaj should be enough to prove as an ISKCON official release.
Besides, in www.iskcon.com , there is no mention of this perticular temple of thailand in their official "temples and centers" list
I will keep in touch with maharaj for any update and also with all the respected members here.

This letter is a very shocking news to me that you are not even a member of the ISKCON.
I remember 3 years back you and I travel together in the same flight from Calcutta to Bangkok. We had long and detail discussion for the legality of ISKCON at Bangkok. I remember you then said that you have open a resturant for get your visa and due to stringent conditions and NO permission to ISKCON you have adopted the way of open a resturant for get the visa. You also told that you are trying to get the ISKCON registered at Thailand. I did trust your story and understand that you are the authentic ISKCON.
Please note that I am a life Member of the ISKCON being number MPR/1942 /Mayapur / 10.05.1993.
After the disclosure of the fact that your temple is not the genuine ISKCON, I have checked the official website of the ISKCON and found that original ISKCON is operating from Ishrpha 3 and not by you.
Please you clerify your authencity as ISKCON member or temple.
I also request all living Indians & worshiper of ISKCON for enlight the real fact of the temple operated, Money collected as donations by the Mr. Damodar Das in the name of ISKCON.

I agree with you and your confusion its only natural to see through anything thats fake.
Damodar is running it as a household and this may be clarified if anyone wishes to write an email to SRi Tusti Mohan ji secretary to Srila Jai Pataka Maharaj "Acharayapad" Guru ji at Mayapore.

If this would be an Iskcon establishment Damodar would not have visa problems and you would see Iskcon Gurus come by and having programmes.Organising Ratha Yatra etc. Iskcon is huge and well organised we all know.

The ISKON is a huge umbrella organization where all sorts of people join & enlighten themselves. So, it would be a spiritual move if the unauthenticated person surrenders and apologises to the great ISKON.J.Bhoi
