dear Harry Paaji,
Welcome back to bangkok. We admire your peacemaker skills. We hope BCC respects you as you do.no one want problems.we were availble at da grounds.Yes more understandings was needed to stop the problems.I think it was all by accident. There is not much fun & joy in this tournament.
Lets play some serious cricket paaji. When is 20-20 starting?

Posted by Raju, on 06/09/2008 at 18:44

Hi all the participants/organizers,
It should have been a very joyful event but things went wrong and we need to mend things and stop further damage. So lets remain calm and put an end to whole episode instead of blaming each other.
The problems would never have taken place if there was some understanding and flexibility in rules for this cricket for fun tournament.
Problems should have ended right on the field instead of dragging it all around and having/developing bad feelings for each other.
Let Mr.Mahesh and Mr.Jogani talk to each other and make some good understanding.
I am sure Mahesh must have supported/helped Jogani to organize this tournament and both should get some thankful respect.
We all understand the involvement of many guys will spoil thing further. So lets put an end to this sad story. I do not want development of any kind of differences among the cricketers in Bangkok. So lets maintain our respect for each other.
Good luck.

I have checked with Mahesh on this episode and Mahesh says that at 8.27am on Sunday morning, to his shocking disbelief, he got a SMS from the organisers advising him that BCC has to play the finals first at 9.00am and if BCC fails to turn up by 9.00am, they will be disqualified. This made him and other players very annoyed and he replied back in disgust by SMS to the organisers to disqualify BCC if they are determined to do so. Even if he would have flown the players to Harrow, he could not have made it to the ground by 9.00am. Organizers could have had the courtesy of informing him same thing the previous evening or at least by 7am on Sunday morning. On the first day (Saturday) he was informed verbally that first the 3rd and 4th slot game will be played and then the grand final. Yes ! organizers were seen requesting captains and players of all the teams to be present on the ground irrespective of whether it's their game or not as they wanted them all to add to the festive look and cheer up the other playing teams. But it was neither mentioned in the rules nor a verbal communication declared that teams failing to do so will disqualified.

On Saturday, BCC had clearly made it to the ground in time as the draws were not out. If BCC could have made it on Saturday in time, it could have also made it on Sunday in time. But as on Saturday they had qualified for the finals and the finals was supposed to be played in the afternoon, his players planned accordingly.

On Sunday, Mahesh + 4 of BCC players had arrived on the ground by 9a.m. and were given the cut off time of 9.15am. Had the cut off time would have been 10.00am. atleast he could have managed to get his players to the ground by that time. Mahesh had mentioned to the organisers that couple of players will be reaching the ground by 12 noon but at no point of time he had mentioned that his team will not take the ground before 12 noon. He had begged the organisers to change the cut off time but organisers were bent upon the cut off time of 9.15 am. In 15 minutes he could not have got his players even by concorde supersonic jet.

He then requested organisers to let the the 3rd and 4th slot game take place first as it usually happens every where in the world. The grand final is always the last event. But seeing the BCC players missing on the ground, the mischievious idea had already struck the organisers and they decided to go ahead with the BCC's game first, giving BCC a cut off time of 9.15 a.m., thus trying to succeed in their sinister plan to throw BCC out of the tournament and increase their own chances of winning the tournament and the 12 valuable 'Sarkar Raj' world premier tickets worth US$ 250/- each. But nothing is more powerful than the God's verdict. Bhagwan ke ghar daer hai andher nahin hai. In the finals the organisers team lost on the penultimate ball and also their dream of availing 12 prized tickets of the world premier.

Mahesh and BCC are the types who have always fought for the cause of every team here. They have fought for the injustices done to anybody. But it was sad that, when injustice was done to Mahesh and his team, other participating teams stood watching as spectators.

It was Mahesh's modesty that he did not utter a single word and gracefully left the ground with his players. Had there been any other team instead of BCC, they would not have allowed such thing to happen or the tournament to continue. Mahesh and BCC are not that type. Players regard and respect him. Hence his players did not do anything to displease him or to go against team's ideology. Even the umpires wanted to leave the premises when they saw wrongdoings. But it's Mahesh's greatness and modesty that he advised the umpires to not to interfere and advised them to do their duty inside the ropes.

BCC has always remained modest and will continue to do so. We are well known in Thailand for our attitude, sporting spirit and for the quality and competitive cricket that we play. There is nothing called us arrogance in Mahesh or BCC. We have never tried to take over Thailand cricket or dictate terms. Yes ! we have always tried to play good cricket and remain on top.

Mahesh and BCC were not interested in talking even a single word on the above episode. But recent comments being posted by the organisers, warranted our response (true story).

BCC or it's players will not make any comments here after as for us it's now a closed chapter. We have forgotten everything now and are looking forward to the next season.

I also request www.thaindian.com to remove this entire posts from their website after 1 week. As the team that suffered was BCC and now BCC doesn't have any more grivience. The matter is finished. So pls. remove all the comments posted by the users.

BCC Player.

Dear Friends,

Good Morning!

Congratulations to winners of Howz is that tournament! My hearty wishes to them! I have been receiving phone calls in connection with recent tournament. It was unfortunate to disqualify BCC in an unconstitutional way against the spirit of cricket.

I being out of station was not aware of happenings in chronological order. Irrespective any thing, I can state that what ever happened was disgraceful. I can only say that organizers need to be more professional and generous while conducting such events.

Further, I would like to add that we at Bangkok Cricket Club respect each and every individual and club members in Thailand. There is no second thought about it. Likewise all teams, we also play to win observing the highest degree of sport spirit and ethical practices.

We would also like to clarify that BCC has expressed its disappointment for not allowing them to play; however, we never intended any refund from organizers on any account. BCC simply wish to ignore and forget about this sad episode. We are positive & constrictive club and look forward to better cricket in coming days.

With warm regards!

Dear Participent/s!

I am not in Bangkok for any cricket club, just a great cricket lover and supporter of BCC. I have been here just as an international student for couple of years. It is very unfortunate to note your personalized comment for a club. This shows high level of frustration & poor IQ of your understanding of cricket and spirit of the game. I was also there on the occasion witnessing all happenings.

Organizers are trying to justify many things now as there was a poor show on their part. It was very interesting to see that eventually final was played as second match of the day only what Mahesh was stating. Same could have been done for BCC had it been a social event which so called organizers are claiming loudly.

Worldwide this is how finals are conducted once all results are in hand. It was clearly observed that all participants including organizers wanted to ensure BCC is eliminated and that is exactly what they did. None of you should talk of sportsmanship as not even one player came in support of BCC as they knew if BCC plays, there chances of wining will be remote.

It was not Mahesh who decided to quit gracefully; any one would have done the same as there is some thing like self respect in every individual. He was fair enough leaving ground with utmost modesty without showing any anger. Until now he did not utter a single word. Organizers digested 15,000 Baht just like that. I would have appreciated had organizers could have come forward and return 15,000 Baht to him.

But it did not happen which shows ill intensions of the organizers. How cheap their approach was, it could have been noticed. No wonder Joganies will face the music in future events. If you dare to reply to BCC, you must reply by playing a good cricket not by posting dirty comments as more you speak more you will be exposed.

A few expelled/rebellions of a prestigious club cannot make an event successful. Time being they have got a loli pop by winning a Trophy to be happy about it. Good luck to them! Pl note in future all good teams like BCC, ICC,BSCC,AIT,SIAM,SOUTHERNERS,ELITE,RBSC & TCC neither will participate in such third class cricketing events nor allow their player to play.

How many of cricket lovers including Mahesh have taken pains sacrificing time, money & energy in organizing BCL for this year, you might not be aware of it even. Just ask Vaughan, Kadar uncle, Harry, Richard, Garry, Dheeraj and other captains. BCC has always respected each and every team and their players. It is very unfortunate when personalized derogative comments are posted by selfish cricketers. You need to go back to school to learn basics. This is the high time Jonganies should understand their mistake and post an apology to end this chapter. It is not too late.

Hello all,
You will not hear story from mahesh. We were there and the truth prevails.Basicaly BCC thinks they own thai cricket. They are 2 proud and bully other teams by political moves.Good they are routed out.
Nice idea, they can buy some trophies, they failed to win.

Posted by Participant, on 06/07/2008 at 12:32

Mr. Mahesh,
Please tell your part of true story.

Posted by Rola Rappa, on 06/06/2008 at 14:29

hi,
just thought that people should know both sides of the story.
to understand the evnts of that day it is important to know that...
the basic intent and spirit of the Jogani tournament was more of a social event than a competition with a serious trophy or prize as the centre to compete for.
the idea was to have 4 teams, and their friends and family to be there and have a good time on the weekend and enjoy playing cricket.the whole atmosphere and arrangements were made in this spirit.there was freshly prepared breakfast, sumptous lunch, lovely tea and coffee and great music.
IT WAS CLEARLY INFORMED TO ALL THE PARTICIPATING CAPTAINS...THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO BE THERE FROM 7.30 - 8.0 AM IN THE MORNING TILL ALL THE GAMES WERE FINISHED FOR THE DAY.
the draws for the games were done when all the teams were present on the first day.after the match also it was informed that all the teams needed to be there early next morning at 8.game to start at 8.30.IT WAS NOT ANNOUNCED AS TO WHICH GAME IS TO BE PLAYED FIRST.again, the reason beingthat in the spirit of the tournament, all the teams needed to be there for both the games.
on sunday, when none of the players of mahesh's team were there at 8, an sms was sent to mahesh to be there by 8.30 or else the team would be disqualified.to which he replied that ok...disqualify them.what mahesh has forgotton to mention in his e mail is that, after that a call was made to him explaining him the situation and asking him to come with his team as soon as possible.after he arrived,he was requested to get his team as soon as possible.to that he replied that a lot of players would not be able to make it before noon.this again contradicts his statement that he had said that his team would be there by 10 am.IF ANY 'DIRTY' INTENTION WAS THERE NO CALL WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AFTER MAHESH REPLIED (THAT IT WAS OK TO DISQUALIFY HIM) TO TRY AND GET THE MATCH GOING...EVEN IF A BIT LATE....THE ORGANISERS COULD HAVE STARTED THE THE GAME AT 8.30 BUT THEY WAITED FOR MAHESH'S ARRIVAL AND THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING HIS TEAM IN A BIT LATER ALSO.
after the first match, the losing team waited there till the end of the 2 nd match(which was in the true spirit of the game).the day was real fun except for the disqualication episode.
to sum it up,think that there was MISINTERPRETATION ,not MISUNDERSTANDING, on mahesh's behalf about the rules for the tournament.what i find funny is the absense of some facts which make this story sound really dirty and black...and some things stated which are not entirely correct.

Posted by organiser, on 06/06/2008 at 13:15

Hi guys,
It is a shame to hear about all these problems about Jogani's cricket tournament.
Lets finish this whole episode here.No more ugly comments please. All the guys involved are very emotional personalities.
I think as cricketers,we should respect each other. We all are friends and have been playing good cricket together in Bangkok.I cannot see people fighting for nothing.
I think you all will agree with me that this cricket tournament was organized for fun and all wanted to win the final to be able to sit next to Big B and other guys from Bollywood. Things can go wrong at any point and we can always rectify things for good.
Take care.

Posted by Cricket Lover, on 06/05/2008 at 15:22

Hi all,
1)It was stupid of all participating teams by paying Baht 15,000 for a tournament which was organized for the publicity of Jogani..Hey they made good money out of this?? I think they earned bad name.Sorry! please pay some tax on this earning.
2)There was no proper time schedule and set rules.Team Jogani wanted to win by hook or crook and went ahead with arrangement by making their own rules. You need good management!
3)The winner of finals---Some of them were the non-ethical people expelled from a reputed league team because of their dirty tricks and politics and were frustrated with no cricket played by them.Hence had no respect for sportsmanship but hungry for winning to make their presence felt.

4) It was only exhibtion cricket tournament and not a league which means cricket should have been played for fun but so sorry to know that it was worst than street cricket.
Yes,all the good teams did not play this tounament as we knew the abilities of organizers.Sure,we saved our money and might buy few trophie.
Guys, forget this bad event.Lets play 20-20 tounament starting next week.Have fun.

Hi,
Sour grapes. Its good that you guys were not present till the end, otherwise you'll would have ruined others happiness. Thanks for understanding that indisciplined teams are not wanted and liked by any in the cricketing field. So it is wise that you guys stay away from such events.

Posted by well wisher, on 06/05/2008 at 12:54

Its not even worth commenting or discussing about the tournament/drama highly miss managed so called cricketing event. Simply useless! Sheer wastage of time, money and energy... winning such trophies is meaningless. Better to go to any near by shopping mall and buy such trophies of your own choice ranging from 200 Baht onwards and hang it on any wall of your choice in your house. The organizers did not have basics in their hand like schedule & game rules etc.

They should organize events like kabbadi, Kho kho...matching to their organizing skills. Cricket is a high tech field requires understanding of management at different level....it was good for a few cricket players who have been frustrated for quite number of years to post even a single win...Happy for them

BCC must learn a lesson from this event. Good teams of professional players should not participate in such tournaments as its degrading for them. No wonder most of the good team decided to be away from this event as they had anticipated it would be a flop show only. Such organizers must go to class of Vaughan and learn basics of cricket & its management.

Posted by Robin, on 06/04/2008 at 12:07

Hi
In Bangkok,we respect good organizers and good cricket.Let it be BCC or any team involved in such incident , what happened was wrong. You cannot show doors to cricket playing teams who paid good amount for participating in such exhibition tournament and now asking others to avoid playing with such teams who do not arrive in time or are misinformed about the timing of the finals.Too bad.No excuses please!
Finals are always held at the end when you have all other results in hand or as per the announced schedule. The other finalist might have been there to watch and enjoy some cricket. So forget it.
Go and watch dance dhamaka and do not disqulify any one there and provide them time schedule

Posted by cricketer, on 06/03/2008 at 19:25

Hi All,
Just by Assuming that the Finals will be played later does not necessarily mean that the event is poorly organised. If it was announced that the Finals would be played later, then why did the other finalist turn up in the morning? Just playing good cricket does not necessarily mean that BCC is always right. I think the organisers did a great job by showing them the door. The others should also take a cue from this and avoid playing with such teams.

Dear Mr. Atul Jogani,

I am writing to you on behalf of CRY Child Rights and You, an Indian organization working for the underprivileged children in India. The real childhood picture in India shows that 50% of Indian children are malnourished, 46% are underweight, 38% stunted and 19% wasted, 75% of girls are forced into marriage before they are 18 years, 17 million children work as child laborers, there are many more such issues prevailing!

CRY amplifies the voice of millions of such Indian children who are denied with their basic right to life; Right to Survival, Right to Development, Right to Protection and Right to Participation. For over 28 years, CRY along with 500 grass root NGO partners in 2500 villages and slums, spread across 18 states, is working to eradicate the root causes of the injustice and is ensuring these rights to marginalized Indian children. At CRY we believe that each of us as Indians are responsible for and can change the situation of our children by standing for child rights and ensuring ALL children are treated as citizens and they enjoy the rights guaranteed to them in our Constitution. And with the support of lakhs of such individuals and organizations across the globe, CRY has been successful in transforming the lives of 1.5 million children PERMANENTLY!

Your Partnership Is Crucial To Continue Our Movement For Child Rights. I urge you to jin us in our movement for child rights, by making CRY part of this Cricket Tournament. It would help us to build awarness about the situation of Indianchildren and CRY's initiatives to erradicate the root causes.

Please feel free to write to me at namita.saxena@crymail.org to take this partneship forward. I look forward to your support, help and partnership to ensure that every child in India has a right to a childhood.

Hi Jogani sahib,
Well done. What a funny way of finishing tournament.
Was there any schedule for this tournament?I mean timing, who is playing who and when and how the semi final and finals should be played??? we heard a shamful way of organizing the finals. The champions BCC was disqualified by non-ethecial way . Sorry to tell you that you do not understand cricket. The other teams who participated were really selfish to support such final to take place in such manners.
we feel disgusted about the whole episode.
Please do not organize such matches again.Amitab ji...sambaal ke rahieye.. yaha to dhokha hai

Vishal,
The map of Harrow School was given because the games are being held at Harrow. As it's a newly made cricket ground, many still do not know it's actual location, hence the map.
Regards,
Bobby.

Posted by Bobby, on 06/01/2008 at 06:29

Why is there a map of Harrow when Shrewsbury is the venue sponsor?

Posted by Vishal Jain, on 05/31/2008 at 18:07

Well done Jogani..
It is great effort to promote cricket and it adds more spice to the cricket fever in Thailand. The premier league champion Bangkok cricket club is favourit to win this tournament as well.
Mahesh malani will be happy and proud to win this tournament because of his best efforts and good team formation with players who can win any matches and trophies.
A few challenging teams are missing from the competition but since these matches are just exhibition matches ,surely the guys will enjoy them and will look forward to receive their award from Sarkar Amitab ji who is worshipped well all over and I am his biggest fan.
Enjoy good cricket guys .Best of luck.
Harry Singh.
