Sourav GangulyKolkata Knight Riders captain Sourav Ganguly posted his third fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here Sunday. Ganguly, who led Knight Riders to victory against Kings XI Punjab with an unbeaten knock of 86 runs, amassed 349 runs at an average of 29.08 in IPL.

Other statistical highlights of the match:

  • Ganguly’s knock of 86 not out off 53 balls is the highest individual innings at the Eden Gardens in IPL. Salman Butt’s 73 against Chennai Super Kings at Kolkata on May 18 was the previous best at this venue.
  • Kumar Sangakkara (64 off 45 balls) registered his fourth fifty, taking his aggregate to 317 at an average of 39.62 in eight games.
  • Shaun Marsh’s tally of 478 at an average of 68.28 in nine games is the second best in IPL, next only to Gautam Gambhir (523).
  • Umar Gul (4/23), for the third time in his Twenty20 career, has claimed four wickets in an innings.
  • With his first four-wicket haul, Gul has taken his tally of IPL wickets to 12 at 15.33 runs apiece. He is the first bowler to claim 10 wickets or more for Kolkata Knight Riders.
  • Gul became the ninth bowler to bag four wickets or more in IPL. His figures are the second best for Knight Riders, next only to 4 for 11 by Shoaib Akhtar vs Delhi Daredevils at Kolkata May 13.
  • Sreesanth captured his 18th victim in the competition - the most by any bowler, eclipsing Sohail Tanvir’s tally of 17 wickets at 11.52 runs apiece.
  • Kings XI Punjab’s defeat by three wickets is their fourth in 13 games in IPL.
  • Knight Riders’ triumph over Kings XI is their sixth in 14 IPL games.
