Guru Teg Bahadur was born in the holy city of Amritsar. The sixth guru of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Har Gobind Ji, had five sons. Guru Teg Bahadur was the fifth and the youngest of the five. The translation of Guru's name, Teg Bahadur, is "Master of the sword". However, Guru Teg Bahadur was master of the spiritual sword and not the political sword.
