Mixed reviews for Abbas - Mustan's 'Race' Print E-mail

RaceRace has finally released on the box office and have received mixed reviews. While Economic Times and Sify give only two stars to the movie, sawf shouts from the roof in favor of the movie. As expected there is nothing new in the storyline here.  The race is between two step-brothers and the plot is still devised on the undying life-insurance money maneuver. One brother’s murder is other brother’s moolah. And each one is set to outdo the other. But in this race, the makers attempt to overtake your sensibilities.

The portrayal of ladies is in keeping with most mainstream Hindi films, especially masala actions flicks – all three heroines play sorry accessories, some more than the other. Of the cast, Sameera is so-so, Katrina does fairly well, and Bipasha is smokin’, smoking’ hot. Saif is superb in the film Akshaye looks good when he decides to keep his chest hair covered and Anil Kapoor tries his best to do well in a clichéd role; his comic timing is impeccable as always.[Sify ]

Even though the plot is convoluted, the movie will work because there is a hidden star who I fear will never be highlighted. His name is Allan Amin, the action director. The action is top class and slickly executed which gives the movie the edge in the absence of a tight script. [Glamsham ]

The bottom line is that don't expect a innovative, extra-ordinary mind blowingly scripted movie. But it will have a  decent amount of thrill, suspense, drama to keep you intersted and letting you forget your real world woes for sometime. As long as that happens, paisa is vasool!
