A couple of weeks ago we had written about 90% chance IIFA 2008 to be held in Bangkok . Now, we would like to inform our readers that the decision to host IIFA in bangkok has been taken. Thaindian.com was invited to a dinner organized by Mr. Atul Jogani of Jogani Entertainment to officially welcome IIFA to Thailand. The representatives of Wizcraft Viraf Sarkari, Andre Timmins, Shefali Munshi and others were present. The dates chosen for the prestigious IIFA weekend is during the 1st/2nd week of June 2008. The decision to host IIFA in Bangkok came after 8 months of hard work and through research by the IIFA team. Wizcraft is a 20 or so year old event management company which has been conducting IIFA awards since its introduction in 2000. The last award ceremony was held at Yorkshire where organized the first ever " IIFA Fringe Festival". The fringe festival included numerous events and contests involving the local community, here too in Bangkok the IIFA Fringe Festival would be conducted by Jogani Entertainment and would be an unique opportunity for the local community to interact with the Stars.
IIFA is not all fun, its business also. There would be a "FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum" where businessmen from India would meet their Thai counterparts further strengthening the India-Thailand relations.
The hospitality partner for IIFA 2008 is Dusit Thani Hotels & Resorts and the Venue for the IIFA weekend is Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani which is a 12,000-seat arena-style concert hall. It is the primary large-scale entertainment venue for the Bangkok metropolitan area. Past concerts have included shows by Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Elton John and Deep Purple as well as such shows as Disney on Ice. The arena was also used for the Miss Universe 2005 pageant. It also hosts muay Thai and the Thailand Open tennis tournament.
The people from Wizcraft have been working very hard for hosting the IIFA Awards in Bangkok, looking forward to a successful show.
