On the afternoon of Monday 26th May 2008, a press meet was held by Global Indian International School at the premises of Indian Womens Club's Activity Center to introduce Indian Music Appreciation workshop by Shubha Mudgal and Aneesh Pradhan. Indian Classical vocalist Shubha Mudgal and Tabla maestro Dr Aneesh Pradhan are two of India’s well known musicians.
The press meet started with introduction speech from Mrs. Renu Varma and then lighting of the lamp was done by important personalities, Mr. Harsh Varma, Dr Rani and Mr. Ramesh.
Workshops started with a short speech from both Dr Aneesh and Shubha Ji. Dr Aneesh said that similar workshops has been held since 2005 to spread the importance and richness of Classical Hindustani Music all around the globe.
Dr Aneesh told that this is not only for who people who are performing professionally but for everybody.
Shubha Ji introduced the two musical instruments Tabla and Tanpura. She elaborated that Tanpura is an instrument which forms the pitch for the song. She also described how Indian Classical music have Rags for special occasions, for all seasons, for specific time in a day such as morning, afternoon and night.
Since it was afternoon Shubha Ji performed a small piece on Afternoon Rags. She also performed a melodious piece on rainy season which goes like "AYE SAWAN KI BAHAR MORE BAR BALAM"
She then described about the three pitch of music TAR - High MADHAYAM - Middle ANT - Low
She also made the participants to sing “CHARKHA CHALAKE LENGE SWARAJ”
Mean while I was also enjoying by humming her lines and songs. It was a thrilling experience
