June 12, 2007

By Satya Adhar

International AssignmentsDriven by a booming global economy, more than two-thirds (69%) of multinational corporations reported an increase in the number of international assignments in 2006, the highest percentage in the history of the Global Relocation Trends Survey, published annually by GMAC Global Relocation Services. Continuing the optimistic tone, 65% of companies intend to send even more employees on assignment in 2007 as compared to 2006.

With the share of total revenue generated from outside of a company’s headquartered country rising (according to 41% of companies responding to this survey), the demand for experienced international management talent has never been greater. However, the worldwide survey of 180 companies points out that employees are increasingly turning down international assignments, making the job of finding suitable candidates one of most critical business challenges for companies today.

This year’s survey findings identify three major issues responsible for much of the resistance to accepting an overseas assignment.

Vastu Shastra - An introduction Print E-mail

June 09, 2007

By Amit Lamba

VastupurushVastu Shastra - A science of Environmental Harmony and Energy- its mere mention creates a feeling of wonder and an air of inquisitiveness among people. Vastu Shastra, which was earlier considered as a archaic or a primitive science and as a luxury for the wealthy few has now exploded and metamorphosed as mainstream thought. Now, most of the buyers of property as well as construction companies consider it extremely important to get the property assessed by an experienced VASTU Professional in order to understand the strengths and weakness of the plot and also to get to know what energy the property can render to them in the long run.

But the doubts still remain, as in what does one really mean by Vastu and how can it help us lead a life of contentment and bliss, if at all?

Bangkok Cricket Club (BCC) lifts Premier Division Trophy 2006-2007 Print E-mail

June 8, 2007

By Nisha Malani

Team BCCDefending Champions Bangkok Cricket Club (BCC) lifted the Premier Division Trophy 2006-2007 by beating Indian Cricket Club (ICC) in the finals played at the picturesque AIT ground in Bangkok here on Sunday. This is BCC's 3rd Premier Division Trophy in the last 4 years. What an achievement for this club. BCC led by their 'never say die' Captain Mahesh Malani are becoming invincible. They have been undefeated for the last two and a half seasons and their victory run is now 20 games, which is a record in the history of Thailand cricket.

In the finals, BCC winning the toss and batting first, posted a score of 190 all out in 43.3 overs. For BCC, it's find of the season, Vishal Patkar batted well by scoring 36. Vishal was ably supported by Anowarul Islam (26) and Guru Prasad (24) while others also chipped in with useful 10's and 20's. For ICC, Manoj Motwani 2 for 39, Arif Ansari 2 for 38 and Hari Iyer 2 for 10 bowled well. Score of 190 put up by BCC was surely not a good score given their strong batting line up which helped them cross the scores of 300+ this season on 2 occasions and once the all time historical record of 438 for 5. But what is remarkable is that BCC has been defending all kinds of targets that it's posting to the opponents. That is how a Champion side has to play.
