A lot of interesting things happened during PBD 2007 which came to an end on 9th January. As was expected the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister did lot of talking, praising the NRIs, urging them to invest more, declaring some favors for them and giving Pravasi Bharatiya Samman to the chosen few.


However, the best part was still left for the  valedictory session of the 5th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), when the president APJ Abdul Kalam called upon overseas Indians to partner to take India into the league of developed nations by 2020.

In his remarkable style, he instantly won the hearts of the audience and received a very well deserved standing ovation. Check out his presentation and the speech here.

However, Thailand was no where to be seen - at least not in the media. In the commotion of Pravasi Bhartiya Sammans, lauding the contribution of US NRIs in the N-Deal or considering the local issues of Gulf NRIs, it seemed that Thailand did not get the attention it deserves.
